Resilient Mind CBT  Hungerford & Online

People who feel better faster tend to have one thing in common. They decided to do something about it.

You already know something needs to change.

That clarity, the one that brought you here, is the beginning of it.

Whether you're carrying anxiety that won't quieten, stress that's become your baseline, a fear that's started limiting your life, or a pattern you've tried to shift on your own and couldn't: this is where that changes.

At Resilient Mind CBT, I work with people who are ready to move. Not just cope. Move.

What becomes possible

People come to me carrying things like. Anxiety and panic that interrupts daily life

Stress that's become chronic and exhausting.

Phobias and fears narrowing what feels safe.

Sleep that no longer restores them.

Patterns around food or alcohol they're ready to leave behind.

A confidence that's been quietly eroded.

What they leave with is different. Clearer thinking. Steadier responses. A sense of their own capability that wasn't accessible before.

How the work actually works

I combine Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Clinical Hypnotherapy, two of the most rigorously evidenced approaches in psychological treatment, into a model built specifically around you.

CBT works with the thought patterns and behaviours maintaining the problem. Hypnotherapy accesses the deeper, automatic processes that keep old patterns in place even when you consciously want to change.

Together, they create change that holds.

Every session is tailored, confidential, and focused on one thing: getting you to a place where you no longer need me.

What you walk away with

A clear understanding of what's been driving the pattern and why.

Practical tools you can use the same day.

The capacity to handle future difficulty independently.

Renewed energy, motivation, and confidence in your own judgement.

A relationship with yourself that works.

The people who get the most from this work

They tend to be people who are done with managing the symptoms and ready to address the source. People who've perhaps tried other approaches and want something more rigorous. People who are, frankly, tired of where they are.

If that's you, you're in the right place.

Why CBT and Clinical Hypnotherapy Work

Most approaches treat what you feel. This one changes what's driving it.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most researched psychological treatments available. Recognised by the NHS and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), CBT has demonstrated effectiveness for anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, PTSD, and many other conditions. When combined with clinical hypnotherapy, results can be even more powerful and achieved in fewer sessions.

Grounded in evidence. Built around you

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is one of the most thoroughly researched psychological treatments in existence. Recognised by the NHS and NICE as a first-line intervention for anxiety, depression, phobias, PTSD, and a range of other conditions, it has decades of clinical evidence behind it.

Clinical Hypnotherapy adds something that talk-based approaches alone cannot fully reach: direct access to the automatic, below-conscious processes that keep old patterns running even when you know, rationally, that you want to change.

Together, they produce results that are faster, deeper, and more durable than either approach delivers alone.

What actually changes

Most people who seek help have already tried managing the symptoms. They've read the articles, practised the breathing, perhaps seen someone before. The symptoms ease temporarily, then return.

That's because the pattern driving the problem hasn't been touched.

CBT works at the level of the cognitive structures, the thought patterns, beliefs, and behavioural responses, that are actively maintaining the problem. When those change, the symptoms don't come back, because the source has been addressed rather than suppressed.

Clinical hypnotherapy accelerates the therapeutic process by accessing your subconscious mind in a state of deep relaxation. This allows us to address deeply rooted beliefs and automatic responses more effectively than talk therapy alone. Hypnotherapy is particularly effective for breaking habits, managing pain, improving sleep, and overcoming phobias.

What hypnotherapy adds

The conscious mind understands what needs to change. The automatic mind keeps running the old programme anyway.

Hypnotherapy works in the state where that automatic mind is most accessible. In a focused, deeply relaxed state, deeply held beliefs and conditioned responses become far more available to change than they are in ordinary conversation.

This is why hypnotherapy accelerates the process considerably. It is particularly effective for breaking habitual patterns, phobia work, sleep, pain management, and any presentation where the automatic nervous system is centrally involved.

It is not what you have seen on television. You are aware, in control, and directing the process throughout.

You are an active participant, not a passive recipient

This is collaborative work. From the first session, we establish clear goals, build a shared understanding of what's maintaining the problem, and develop strategies that fit your life and your pace.

You will leave sessions with tools you can use the same day. By the time we finish, the skills belong to you, not to the therapeutic relationship.

The goal is your independence, not your ongoing attendance.

What you develop

The ability to recognise and restructure the thought patterns driving anxiety and stress

Practical techniques for managing intensity in the moment

Methods for approaching fears and phobias that actually resolve them

Improved sleep, steadier energy, and a more reliable sense of calm

A way of relating to difficulty that doesn't require avoidance

Mind and body working together

Anxiety is not only a mental experience. It lives in the body: in tension, in disrupted sleep, in digestive disturbance, in the fatigue of a nervous system that has been running on high alert for too long.

The integrated model addresses both. Somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, and physical relaxation are woven into the work alongside the cognitive and depth-psychological components.

Change that is felt in the body tends to be change that lasts.

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become"

–– Carl Jung

I am pleased to recommend Laurence Martin as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapist. Over the course of a few months, I have been struggling to control my mood due to suddenly being made redundant and having to revisit past trauma due to a protracted divorce.
Laurence demonstrated a deep understanding of CBT principles and effectively applies them to me in the form of an individualised treatment plan.
